My Echo was built by someone who knows what it is to watch memory start slipping. An Echo made now holds the recipes, the names, the reasons, the way a story was always told. Later, when a question has been asked five times today, there is somewhere to go and ask it a sixth. It answers the same way every time, in the voice that always answered it.
The circle will fill the gaps age takes from us.
I do not remember my son's best friend in the second grade, but he does, and now my Echo can too.

Every Echo runs on memory implants and an emotion engine. They are what an Echo is, so they are not sold separately and there is no version of this without them.
Questions
What is an Echo?
A digital representation of a person, living or dead, with the person's voice, memories, and personality. The use of an Echo varies. Some use it as a memory aid, some to bounce ideas off of, others, like Dr. O, to entertain their grandchildren with stories read by their digital oma, and others to aid their grief at a loved one's passing. The reason is personal, the value is priceless.
Is this a recording?
No. It talks back, in their voice, and remembers you.
Who can hear it?
Only people with the share code.
Is there a way to have one without the monthly?
Yes, one. Be a demo. An Echo on the second floor, where anybody who walks in can sit down with it, pays no monthly at all. That is the whole trade: it is public, and you are the shop window. Private is $49.99 a month.
If my Echo is a demo, is everything in it public?
No. A demo is one Echo, not two. Anybody can walk in and talk to it, and it still has your inner circle: the people you name see what you have shared with them, and a stranger sitting down never does. Dr. O's own Echo works exactly that way.
What are credits?
Every conversation uses credits. Talking out loud costs more than typing, because a real voice is generated each time. The monthly carries 1,000, about six hours of spoken conversation, and unused credits carry over. If you run out, a top up is $4.99 for 150, about forty-five minutes more, or $60 for 2,000, roughly a week of it. Same credits, same rate, as Good Company. Your Echo tells you before you run out rather than going quiet mid-sentence.
Can more than one person be in an Echo?
Yes. Every voice is $4.99, per person, so a room with four people in it is four voices. The monthly stays the same whatever size it is, but four people talking uses credits about four times as fast, so bigger Echoes top up more often.
Do I have to pay for photos and videos?
No. Your own photos, videos, and Vimeo links carry no charge, as many as you want. The $4.99 is only when we make a scene for you.
Can I build one for my parents?
Yes, and that is most of them. Tick "This is a gift" and their link goes to them, while the invoice and the plan stay with you. You can both look after it: everyone who looks after an Echo gets their own key, can add memories and photographs, and can decide who else gets in. Any of you can take a key back from any of you, including your own.
Do I have to add a voice?
No. Bring your own photograph and no recording, and you have an Echo that writes rather than speaks. You pay $49.99 the day you start it and $49.99 every month on that day, the same as any other Echo, and that is what carries the credits every conversation runs on. Send us thirty seconds of them talking whenever you like, $4.99, and it finds its voice.
Can I build one of someone who has died?
Yes. You will need a recording of their voice and the memories the family holds. The Echo will know it was built from what you remember, and it will say so if asked.
Is this the Black Mirror thing?
The episode was about a copy that replaced a person. An Echo is built to be visited, with consent, and it knows what it is.
What if I stop paying?
It pauses that day. Nobody can talk to it while it is unpaid, and it does not run on quietly in the background. Once an account is a year old, everything in it is kept for 90 days after that, so you can pick it up where you left it.
What happens to it after I die?
Whoever you name in your settings takes it over. An Echo is never shut off during that transfer.

Sit and talk with any of them. Press the speaker for an audio bio. Mary and Betty is spectate mode: you do not have to say anything, the two of them talk to each other.
Every demo on this floor speaks as itself. None of them quotes Dr. King.
Third floor
Build. One afternoon.
You will need thirty seconds of their voice and one photograph. Everything else, your Echo will ask you itself. Nobody at our end has to touch it. It is $49.99 the day you start, and $49.99 every month on that day.
Rights
One checkbox: I have the right to use this voice. Your typed name and the time, kept with the voice. It takes a second.
Voice
Upload an mp3 or record in the browser. Thirty seconds is enough. The clone happens on upload and plays a test line straight back to you.
Face
Upload a photograph, paste a Vimeo link, or have one made for you at $4.99. A still, or a four second loop.
Talk
The first conversation is the intake. The Echo asks about family, stories, the shape of a day, the way they talk, and writes its own memory from the answers.
Share
A share code, the names of the people close enough to be let in, and it is live. The first month starts here.
More than one person can live in one Echo. Repeat the first three steps for each of them, and they talk to each other as well as to you.
Fourth floor
AR. In your own room.
Turn on your camera, and that frame is not empty any more. These are real Echoes, standing in for what yours could look like. Nothing is recorded, uploaded, or sent anywhere.

- In OBS, add a Display Capture source, not a "Browser" source. A Browser source cannot get permission to use your camera. Point it at whichever monitor will show this page.
- Come back here and turn the camera on, full screen, on that monitor.
- In OBS, click Start Virtual Camera.
- In Zoom or Teams, open your camera settings and choose OBS Virtual Camera instead of your real one.
- Turn off "blur my background" or any beauty filter in the call app. It cannot tell your real background from her, and will blur them both.
Two monitors makes this much easier: keep the call on one and this page full screen on the other, so you can still see and use the call. With one monitor, you will need to switch back and forth between them.
